My Literary Escapism #2A

PART 2: Review 2 of 'The Dinner Guest'

'The Dinner Guest' by BP Walter.

I am writing the second part of the book review. The review might have spoilers, so if you do not want the spoilers, then come and read my review after reading this book.

The story did not end in a cliffhanger, and I am glad it didn't. Otherwise, I would still wonder who murdered who and why all this insane action happened. As an audience, I loved the mystic nature of Rachel. I felt this was crucial as she was there as the main character but why. Why was she always there, and at the right time, what connection did she have the with characters? All the questions and more you will gain when reading this book. I was happy with the ending as it solved the murder and your mind goes whoosh- 'Now I get everything, it all makes sense. BP Walter gave a sound finish that made me feel better and put me at rest after all the information and bonkers behind Charlie's back, including raising the teen child.

There were parts where I found it difficult to care about Matthew, Charlie's husband, but that was later in the book when you put two and two and realise what Matthew has been doing and how he does not help co-parent with Charlie when Titus is too much. Rachel and how she is everywhere sometimes I felt like she does not understand what Privacy means. She extends her welcome, which is getting infuriating at times.

The story was not scary for my liking as I was not scared but more I wanted to know why she is an important character and why this happened and what was the past like for them to come to this conclusion.

It focused on the theme I enjoyed as it was the main reason I picked the book up. I am so giddy that I have all the other books to read. The blurb did not reveal a lot, but it told enough that you would love to read and find out what happened and why and what the secrets are. There are always captivating secrets which come to light in themes like this which is why as a reader, I am passionate about books within this genre—Thriller, suspense and intriguing.

Summarising this book, I devoured this book. It has brilliant mystery and plot twists, and it is very riveting. The types of readers I would recommend this book to are young adults, fans of mystery stories, and who love an adventure. I enjoyed this because I read 'One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus and 'The girl before' by JP Delaney. The reviews for them are up, so don't miss them! If you end up reading books or thoughts, let me know your thoughts through my socials. If there are any outstanding, you would recommend sharing them with me. Thanks, I will love to check it out.

The review for 'The night she disappeared' by Lisa Jewell is coming soon. Sure to check my socials for when it comes out.

My rating of the book:

Four and three quarters stars out of 5.
