My Literary Escapism #2

My second book review:

Review of 'The Guest Dinner'.

By BP Walter

The 'The Dinner Guest' is about four people who walked into the dining room that night. One would never leave. There are four characters: Matthew, Titus, Charlie and Rachel. We can see that Charlie did not want Rachel at the book club, and Matthew wouldn't listen. The bickering of not wanting a guest shows that there might be some argument between each character.

My favourite character was Charlie, as he seemed like a sound guy, friendly and outgoing. I felt whilst reading he did not sound weird, creepy or random. He tried his best to be a father, son, husband and friend. All the characters felt very real to me. This book turns into a movie would be a thrilling and suspenseful feel. Each of the characters who played in the book was real and made sense; there were no loose ends to tie the knot. It was just perfect. The story kept me guessing the whole time. I thought it was this certain someone until another critical piece of information would come along and make me second guess the character. I remember when all the small things added up and what was happening at the time in the book all made sense. I received the light bulb moment and realised thrilling, edge of the seat, and like Sophie Hannah mentioned, 'Immensely gripping'.

My favourite part of the book was the start, where they all met for the first time for a book meeting which was fun and exciting about what they were about to talk about and introduced everyone slowly. That beginning helped the audience slowly ease into the book and feel part of the book club, as that was an excellent and clever way to start the book. The revealing parts where everything made sense and finally got its revenge made me feel relieved and significant about the conclusion/resolution of the issues.

Yes, I feel that I wrote Walter's entire book superbly, and that is why as an audience, I was reeled in and could not put it down, and it is probably one book I have read the quickest. Examples I like were: In the part where it starts introducing all the characters, Matthew cheats on his husband when everything adds up to who the murderer was, why that happened, and who died. The bizarre scenes describe the scene and characters, but he does not give away what happened or who it was with perfect art. It gives us the details we need and moves on to the next chapter. I nearly forgot, but when we found out why Rachel was involved and who she was, it made sense when Walter went in-depth and gave us the information we needed to know more about Rachel's involvement. You end up going 'Ahhh' makes sense, and her relation to Titus, which I loved how he didn't just talk about but gave us whole other maybe we can call it Flashback. It gave the book even more meaningfulness, and it made sense and was not dull at all. The book made me feel bad, find the characters cute and smile at them for their friendship before all that changed. Yes, 100% the story gripped me and made me turn the pages.

A gripping thriller with a breathtaking twist

Below is the copy of the book I have. This book also does not have a series, unfortunately.
